Steve is such a great teacher. He is very kind and patient and you never feel rushed or judged. He is full of smiles... and enthusiasm and really takes time to put you at ease when learning new things (when you might be feeling a little scared playing unfamiliar things in front of someone). There are many times when my fingers just won’t do what I want them to do and he will just tell me to take a deep breath, break things down and we’ll play things a section at a time until it starts to feel more natural. Sometimes the lesson can end up playing the same chord over and over again but yet it never feels like lost time. We have been having our lessons via remote means (skype) during these difficult times but I really don’t feel like I’ve ‘lost out’ on anything. I had some basic experience in playing guitar but pretty much only ‘strummed’ but Steve has shown me so much in such a short period of time (still lots of perfecting required!!) that I am blown away with what we’ve been able to achieve.Contact Steve if you want guitar lessons - you won’t be disappointed.read more

Khan has been learning guitar with Steve and he thoroughly enjoys it. He finds him very easy to talk to and they have... some funny moments together, which makes guitar more enjoyable. Even though he stopped playing for a while when the first lockdown was introduced, khan has picked the guitar up again and has since done his grade 1 and now working for grade 2. My 9 year old son started lessons with Steve a few months ago. He's really surprised us with how much his playing and... confidence has improved and over such a short space of time. He even felt confident enough to enter a talent show at school recently - proudly playing one of his grade 1 pieces that he had been practising with Steve. Steve is patient and very encouraging and his communication with us from day 1 has been great. I would highly recommend!read more

My daughter has been having Skype lessons with Steve during this Lockdown and it has worked really well! Steve is calm... and methodical. He wants to know the type of songs relevant to her taste, and that she wants to learn, then provides the teaching, chords and technique to help her learn these and practice them. She already has several songs under her belt that she can play and has a sense of achievement after just a few lessons.Would definitely recommend Steve to other budding guitarists!read more

As a complete beginner I was looking for a teacher who could give me clear instruction and set structured homework.... Steve asked how I wanted to learn and has been really great at providing me with interesting lessons and new techniques I had never heard of. We did all this via Zoom and it’s worked well. I’ve had five lessons with Steve so far, and as pretty much a beginner, and probably one of his older students, I am... really please with the progress I feel I’ve made already.He has a patient, professional, friendly, and logical way of teaching, he’ll set you a challenge, that at first may seem a little daunting, but because of his knowledge and experience, are within your capabilities.I would thoroughly recommend Steve to anyone wanting to play guitar to whatever level. Skype guitar lessons

I feared that the lockdown might bring a temporary halt to my lessons with Steve, but Skype has proved a very good, face to face solution. It was easy to set up on the PC or laptop and once we had adjusted the camera angles, I had a very helpful session. Steve is able to email music over in advance, so that I have chance to go through it before a lesson, which makes the time spent much more productive. Steve is still able to observe, offer his very useful advice and demonstrate the more efficient ways of playing musical phrases. It doesn’t beat the person to person, one-on- one tuition, but it is a good and effective substitute which has enabled me to continue learning.

Weekly sessions on Skype

When the Coronavirus lockdown started, I thought my new found love of playing the guitar would have to go on ice. But thanks to Steve’s ingenuity I have not missed a single lesson, as we have moved to weekly sessions on Skype. Apart from some initial technical glitches (my end!), on-line teaching has proved very effective. Steve sends music sheets and YouTube clips via email and we carry out the lesson via Skype. Keep up the good work Steve.

Skype lessons – very successful

Started with Steve (by the way he is great) around Christmas 2019 and when we went into lockdown we switched to using Skype. On our 6th Skype lesson this week and its amazingly good. Clear picture and decent sound, even with laptop camera. Connecting is very simple. Steve emails me the music and this week when I was being a bit slow, sent me a short video to help as well. I am not the quickest, but get there in the end! Would say to anyone this is agreat way to do your lessons and could use when we are out of lockdown if needed. Give it a try! It works!

patience and his vast knowledge

I’ve been playing guitar for a couple of years now, but i came to a stop and was not able to get started again. Steve helped me get going by introducing me to new styles of strumming and picking. always enjoy my lessons

I have been having lessons with Steve for a couple of years now .When i first started i could just stum a few simple cords, i have now learned many more cords, fingerpicking techniques and learned to play a lot of songs from Blues to Folk Rock and Pop, some simple others i didn't think i would be able to play. I always enjoy my lessons with Steve and would definitely recommend him as a Guitar teacher.
